How to travel from New York to LA by train for cheaper than you probably thought.

The trip was a huge privilege and we had to save for a while to afford it, so I know it’s not cheap, but I’m very pleased with it considering how much we saw.
I know that some people can’t imagine going on vacation and cooking. I’m not trying to disrespect that, I just have to choose either seeing places that I want to see, or eating in restaurants – if I had $35 dinner every night on vacation, it would be a great time, but a much shorter trip!

We were able to save money by cooking for ourselves, avoiding buying tickets for attractions etc, and staying in nice but cheap Airbnbs, hostel beds and by housesitting.

We love housesitting while travelling, and finding hosts that accepted us was the first part of our plan to visit the USA. Everything followed from there, and suddenly the big journey you saw in the main video was possible!
